This week, one of my long-term private writing clients wrote a brilliant piece of nonfiction flash and, stuck on the task of titling it, he turned to an AI title generator. He fed the generator his piece and it came back with the title "Echoes." Which is the kind of title that could be slapped onto a million different pieces because it doesn't say much at all and or can be made to mean a lot of different things.
After the writer told me it was AI-generated, I told him about a workshop I was once in way back in my undergrad days where one of the students in my class titled his piece, "I Care, I Don't Care." Every time I can't think of a title for something, I want to just call it, "I Care, I Don't Care." It fits everything.
